President Mohamud vows to combat corruption as the country celebrates Eid al-Adha

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has vowed to combat corruption which he identified as the primary obstacle hindering the development of the nation.

The president who addressed the nation during the eve of Eid al-Adha alongside Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre congratulated the people of Somalia for supporting government’s efforts in addressing the various challenges facing the country.

He noted that Somalia can only achieve a fully functional and self-sufficient government of corruption is eliminated as this will ensure all government agencies effectively deliver crucial services and hence ensure a dignified life for all Somali people.

President Mohamud stressed that his government will combat corruption with the same commitment it is putting in the war against the terrorist group, Al-Shabaab emphasizing that only by eradicating corruption can the Somali people’s dreams and goals be achieved.

On his part, Prime Minister Barre also offered his congratulations to the Somali people and Muslims worldwide and urged then to live in peace and unity so as to achieve prosperity.
