Prime Minister Barre in Djibouti for High-Level Talks on Security and Trade

GOOBJOOG NEWS | DJIBOUTI: Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is in Djibouti for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on security and trade, Somali government.
Barre, who is visiting at the invitation of Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh, is leading a high-level delegation as part of efforts to reinforce ties between the two neighboring Horn of Africa nations.
He is scheduled to meet with President Guelleh and Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed to discuss regional security, economic development, and joint strategies to combat terrorism.
Talks are expected to focus heavily on coordinated efforts against Al-Shabaab and ISIS, armed groups that continue to threaten stability across the region. Both Somalia and Djibouti face similar security challenges and have maintained close military and intelligence cooperation.
“The visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation and address common threats,” said a statement from the Somali Prime Minister’s Office.
Somalia and Djibouti enjoy longstanding ties that span trade, security, and diplomatic coordination. Officials from both sides say the outcome of this visit could pave the way for new agreements to boost economic and regional integration.
