The semi autonomous regional state of Puntland in Northeastern Somalia has dissolved the chamber of commerce today.
Puntland minister for commerce and industries Mohamud Hassan Timade addressing the local media in Garowe confirmed that Puntland chamber of commerce was dissolved and the elections will be held 10th of next month.
The minister stated that the leaders of Puntland chamber of commerce are now in office illegally as their term ended before 14 months.
The head of Puntland chamber of commerce Said Hussein Iid holding press conference dismissed the accusations of the minister adding that the ministry has no power to dissolve the chamber of commerce.
He stated that the powers lies with standing committee of the chamber of commerce and the president of Puntland Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas.
This comes a time when there was an argument between the ministry of commerce and industries and Puntland chamber of commerce the last few weeks.
