Puntland court convicts individuals in absentia
Puntland court in Garowe sentenced 14 individuals in absentia who are accused of attending central state formation conference in Adado, the administrative capital of Himan and Heb.
A former Puntland Parliament MP Abdiweli Muse Shire aka Dhamuke leading the delegates that reached Adado district and two others were sentenced to life in prison and the remaining men were sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The court accused the individuals of violating the independence of the administration by taking part in a conference which Puntland sees as unlawful and agreeing to the formation of regional state in Puntland territorial areas.
Mohamed Osman, the attorney general of the court told the press that the sentence of the individuals came after long consultation.
The attorney general stated that their term will start immediately they are apprehended by the security forces.
Central state formation conference is expected to open in Adado in few days time, most of the delegates arrived Adado as the administration is finalizing its efforts to open the meeting.
