Puntland Forces Eliminate Senior ISIS Drone Commander in Counterterrorism Operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | GAROWE: Puntland security forces have successfully eliminated a senior Islamic State (ISIS) commander responsible for operating explosive-laden drones used in attacks across the region.
Officials confirmed Thursday that the militant, a foreign national, was killed in a targeted operation in the Lugta-Huraanhur and Togga Raq-raq areas of the Al Miskaad mountains in the Bari region.
According to Puntland security officials, the operation is part of an intensified counterterrorism campaign aimed at disrupting ISIS activities in the area. Security forces have expanded their presence, forcing ISIS militants to retreat from their strongholds.
The operation came just hours after Puntland forces recovered a fixed-wing drone suspected to have been used by ISIS militants.
The increased use of drones by the group has posed a significant security threat, with militants deploying them to target Puntland forces.
In recent weeks, Puntland’s security forces have ramped up efforts to dismantle extremist factions, including ISIS and Al-Shabaab insurgents, in the rugged mountain terrain where these groups have established bases.
Authorities have vowed to continue their operations to neutralize militant threats and restore stability in the region.
