Puntland Forces kill ‘several’ Al-Shabaab fighters in Golis Mountains

GOOBJOOG NEWS/Somalia’s Puntland Security forces have destroyed Alshabab hideouts in Golis Mountains, killing several terrorists in a special security operation to hunt down terrorists in the region, in the past 24 hours.

Officials who spoke to State Media said the Darawish captured Al-Shabaab bases in the Dhagah-dhaabur and Habar-hagoogan hills of the Golis range, particularly in Galgala in the two-day operation.

The officials added that the operation was still ongoing, and that there were casualties among the Al-Shabaab fighters even though they did not elaborate on the number of casualties and if there were any, on their side.

Puntland Darawish Forces State have launched similar operations against Al-Shabaab in Bari’s Golis Mountains, where the group finds cover to plan terrorist activities against military and civilians.
