Puntland Forces Seize Mirale Valley in Major Push Against ISIS

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BARI: Puntland Security Forces have seized a key training based used by the ISIS militant group as they intensify operations in the area.

According to Puntland Counter Terrorism Operations headquarters, the forces seized the Mirale base in Bari region Saturday.

The counterterrorism unit said Friday its forces conducted air and ground operations in Mirale valley and added Saturday that the forces were now inside the valley clearing ISIS hideouts.

The Puntland forces have mounted fierce operations against ISIS in the last five months seizing vast territories and killing scores of ISIS militants.

The Al-Miskad mountain ranges which served as the key stronghold for ISIS is now under the control of Puntland forces.

The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) has been providing air support in the campaign against ISIS.
