Puntland Minister For Justice Quits The Office

Puntland minister for Justice, Ismael Mohamed Warsame has resigned from the office on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters in Garowe, Ismael said that for last eight months the cooperation between the president’s office and his office had been fading after Puntland failed to pay salaries of custodial corps.

“I have been at odds with Puntland President, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali for the last eight months over long overdue salaries of disgruntled officers” he said.

The resignation has spawned controversy between the President and his Vice President Abdihakin Abdullahi Haji Omar.

The minister’s resignation comes as cabinet reshuffle is expected which its speculation increased the political tension in the semi-autonomous regional state of Puntland.

On 8th this month Puntland president Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas has replaced his chief of staff, the move was seen as an introduction of imminent cabinet reshuffle in which Puntland president wants to appease political groups
