Puntland MPs calls for end to clan fighting in Kismayo

Puntland parliament members are calling for peace to end clan militias fighting in Lower Jubba region in the past few days.

The lawmakers who spoke to the media in Garowe said that they are so worried about the clan militias fighting in Jubaland region, and called on the Jubbaland president Ahmed Madobe to push for peace among communities fighting in the region.”

At least several people were killed and several others were wounded in the clan militia fighting that happened in the outskirt of Kismayo in the past week.

There has been long tension between many Somali clans in the region due to rivalry and competition over resources such as grazing land for livestock or access to water.
