Puntland Polls: Kaah Party Leads Nugal Regional Council Elections
GOOBJOOG NEWS | GAROWE: The Puntland Election Commission Wednesday announced preliminary results of the local council elections in the Nugal region.
The results revealing a close race between major parties; Kaah party, Horseed party and Sincard party.
In Garowe, the Kaah party, led by President Deni, secured 12 seats, while the Horseed party followed with six seats while Sincard party came in 3rd with 5 seats.
Other parties Mideeye, Shaqaalaha, Runcad, Mustaqbal, and Ifiye parties each claimed two seats.
Of the 33 contested council seats, 9 were won by women.
Kaah party however still needs five more seats to secure the majority and it may require to form alliances with smaller parties so as to strengthen its position.
The local council elections in the Nugal region are critical in shaping the political landscape, and the final results are eagerly awaited.
