Puntland Warns Residents against Aiding ISIS as Security Forces Tighten Siege
GOOBJOOG NEWS | BOSASO: The Mayor of Bosaso, Dr. Abdirahman Abdullahi Ali, has warned that authorities will take tough action against anyone found collaborating with or supplying members of the ISIS-affiliated militant group battling Puntland Security Forces in the Bari region.
Speaking during a security briefing, Mayor Abdirahman said local individuals who provide food, fuel, or other logistical support to militants will face prosecution. He noted that ongoing military operations under “Operation Hilaac” have cut off the fighters’ supply routes and isolated their mountain hideouts.
“We are sending a clear warning to anyone found assisting ISIS with supplies, the law will deal with them firmly,” the mayor said. He urged traditional elders in affected areas to cooperate with authorities in identifying collaborators.
Puntland security agencies have detained several suspects accused of aiding ISIS cells in the region, according to local officials. Investigations are ongoing as forces continue operations to dismantle the group’s remaining strongholds.
Regional authorities have vowed to sustain the offensive until the militant network in Bari is neutralized, underscoring the administration’s commitment to restoring security and stability in northern Somalia.
