GOOBJOOG NEWS|BOSASO: Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has dismissed reports that Bosaso Port has been closed, insisting the strategic commercial hub remains fully operational and warning businesses and the public against spreading what he described as misinformation.

Speaking on Wednesday, Deni said key port operations were continuing without interruption, including the export of livestock and the import of fuel.

“Bosaso Port is not closed. Livestock exports are continuing, and fuel is being offloaded as usual. The reports being circulated are completely baseless,” the Puntland leader said.

Deni also issued a stern warning to traders and residents, urging them to refrain from sharing unverified information that could undermine public confidence, disrupt economic activity, or affect stability in the region.

His remarks come amid ongoing tensions over newly introduced taxes and port charges on imported goods, which have triggered complaints from sections of the business community and fueled speculation about disruptions at the port.

Bosaso Port is Puntland’s principal maritime gateway and a critical economic lifeline for the semi-autonomous region. It handles the import of essential commodities and serves as a major export point for livestock destined for markets in the Gulf.
