Radio Shabelle journalist to appear before court
Somalia attorney general Dr. Ahmed Ali Dahir giving exclusive interview to Goobjoog FM stated that Radio Shabelle journalists will soon be brought before the court to face the justice.
Dr. Dahir mentioned that media outlets exaggerated the arrest of Shabelle and Sky FM employees and called Somali media to think deeply before broadcasting information to the public while he distanced any torture against journalists.
The attorney general underlined that his office completed the process of Shabelle journalists case and delivered the collected evidences to the court.
Mr. Ahmed Ali Dahir newly appointed attorney general added that Somalia government has the rights of keeping the accused in jail more than 48 hours before the person is brought to court if it needs.
Three journalists and the owner of Shabbelle radio were arrested 15 August 2014 after Somali security forces shut down Shabelle Media Network and Sky FM.
The federal government of Somalia accused Shabelle and SKY for incitement after Somali national forces and AMISOM launched disarmament operation in the Capital which led to clashes between Somali forces together with AMISOM and former warlord Ahmed Hassan Adow aka Ahmed Da’i.
