Republic Day Celebrations Marked Across Regions in Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS/SOMALIA: Independence celebrations started Sunday night across the country held in the capitals of the Federal Member States as Somalia marked 64 years since the founding of the republic through a joint declaration between Somaliland and Somalia.

In Dhusamareb the capital of Galmudug, state president Ahmed Qoorqoor led the celebrations at the presidential centre. The event was attended by Members of Parliament, ministers, military officers, Dhusamareb Capital Authority, traditional elders, women, youth, poets, musicians and other dignitaries spoke on the occasion.

In Kismayo, the capital of Jubaland, President Ahmed Madobe joined residents in celebrating the day. Vice President Abdiqadir Haji Mohamud, members of the different councils of the government, officers of the army and different people are also participated in the event.

In Puntland, State Vice President Ilyaas Osman Lugatoor led the celebrations which were also attended by the chairman of the parliament of Puntland, Mr. Abdirisaaq Ahmed Said, the government councils and the security branches.
