Rogue soldier shoots dead police chief in Daynille district

GOBJOOG NEWS|DAYNILLE: Reports from Benadir region says a senior police official was shot dead by a Somali government soldier in Daynille district on Sunday.

The deceased, a police chief at the Barwaqo Department and identified as Alas, was killed after a dispute arose between him and the government soldier, which quickly escalated into the fatal shooting.

Witnesses said another soldier who was near the scene of shooting escaped death narrowly after he was hit by a stray bullet fired by the assailant, but is currently said to be out of danger.

Reports added that the rogue officer was detained by Daynille district security forces as he attempted to flee the scene of crime.
