Said Deni Re-elected as President of Puntland State

GOOBJOOG NEWS | GAROWE: Said Abdullahi Deni has been re-elected as president of Puntland State for a five year term.

Deni emerged winner in the third round of the elections after garnering 45 of the total counted votes, followed by Salah Barre who got 21 votes, according to official results announced by the chairman of the Puntland House of Representatives, Abdirahman Ahmed Said.

President Deni becomes the first president to be re-elected in Puntland, since the establishment of the administration 25 years ago.

Meanwhile security has also been tightened, with a curfew imposed last night in Garowe, which will continue until the end of the election.
