Saudi Arabia Joins Regional and International Voices Condemning Israel’s Somaliland Move
GOOBJOOG NEWS|RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has publicly rejected Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, reaffirming its full support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
In a statement issued on 26 December, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Kingdom stands firmly with Somalia as a sovereign state and considers any unilateral recognition of Somaliland to be a violation of international law.
“The Kingdom expresses its rejection of the announcement of mutual recognition between the Israeli occupation authorities and the Somaliland region,” the statement said, describing the move as one that entrenches unilateral secessionist measures and undermines internationally recognised legal frameworks.
Riyadh also warned against attempts to impose parallel political entities in Somalia, stressing that such actions threaten the country’s unity and stability. The Kingdom reiterated its support for Somalia’s legitimate state institutions and its commitment to preserving stability for the Somali people.
Saudi Arabia’s position adds to a growing list of regional and international actors pushing back against Israel’s decision, reinforcing a broad diplomatic consensus in support of Somalia’s territorial integrity.
