Security Beefed Up in Mogadishu Ahead of Eid-Al-Fitri Celebrations

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Security has beefed up in Somali capital Mogadishu and other parts of the country ahead of the Muslim Eid-Al-Fitri celebrations, scheduled for tomorrow.

According to the Somali Police Command, additional security officers have been deployed to the venue where the celebrations which marks the end of Ramadan will take place.

The police also sent warnings to drivers to observe traffic rules saying anyone found over speeding or carrying excess passengers will be arrested and prosecuted saying caution should be observed especially during the celebration period when the streets in the capital experience a high population.

Parents have also been advised to ensure safety of their children during the period and to work with security agencies in case of any missing children to ensure swift action is taken to find them.

The streets of Mogadishu have been experiencing increased business activity over the past few days as people engage in last minute shopping for Eid.

The Somali people praised the federal government forces for ensuring peaceful fasting during the holy month of Ramadan and expressed optimism that the country will be secured from insecurity threats.
