GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: A series of six airstrikes carried out by the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) in the Lower Shabelle region have killed at least 82 Al-Shabaab militants, including senior commanders, in a significant blow to the terrorist group’s operations.

According to a statement from NISA, the strikes were launched in response to an earlier attack by Al-Shabaab on Somali military bases in the region. The targeted operation struck militant hideouts near the Sabiib and Anole areas, eliminating key operatives plotting further assaults.

“The military operation against the group, which began in the morning, concluded by evening on Thursday after intelligence confirmed that Al-Shabaab was attempting to destabilize security in Sabiib and Anole,” NISA stated.

The agency also urged civilians to avoid areas known to harbor Al-Shabaab fighters, as these locations remain primary targets for government-led offensives.

This latest operation follows another successful intelligence-driven raid in Sumadaale, Middle Shabelle, just a day earlier.

In that mission, NISA forces eliminated a gathering of Al-Shabaab commanders and fighters, further weakening the group’s leadership structure.

The six airstrikes underscore the Somali government’s intensified efforts to dismantle Al-Shabaab and restore stability in the country.

Security officials have vowed to sustain military pressure on the militants, ensuring Somalia moves closer to lasting peace and security.
