Several Milestones Achieved in Restoring Peace and Stability in Somalia, Internal Security Minister Says
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Republic of Somalia Internal Security Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag has said the federal government has achieved much of its goals to strengthen the country’s security.
The minister said this achievement indicates a major milestone in President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s administration, which had set security as key among his top priorities when he took over office two years ago.
Fartaag stated that the achievement was a result of efforts and strong cooperation between security agencies and Somali citizens.
“One of the key pillars of president Hassan sheikh Mohamud’s government two years ago was prioritizing security and you know how security has improved,” he said.
President Mohamud has said his government is focused on enhancing the country’s security and political stability which are key drivers of the country’s development.
The government has also boosted the capacity of its security forces by recruiting more personnel to the various ranks and conducting trainings to enhance the officer’s skills in tackling emerging security challenges both within the capital Mogadishu and the country at large.
The country’s security officials have also conducted several targeted operations against the Al-shabaab which has drastically degraded the group’s ability to conduct attacks against government and civilian targets – hence improving security in various parts of the country.
