‘Several’ people injured in grenade attack in Beletwyene
GOOBJOOG NEWS|HIIRAAN: Reports emanating from Beledweyne town in Hiran region state that a grenade was hurled at a security checkpoint injuring several people. Residents claim that the attack was carried out by gunmen who fled the scene immediately after committing the heinous act. Hiran security forces swiftly carried out a search operation for the perpetrators but have not yet commented on the attack. So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but, suspicion falls on Al Shabaab who often stage such attacks. Only three days ago, 3 MPs identified as Adan Mohamed Muse, Duwane Farah Ali and Osman Abdullahi Dhore were critically injured in Jowhar district, the capital of Middle Shabelle region after gunmen threw a hand grenade in a house that some Hirshabelle MPs were holding a meeting. Beletwyene town is one of the cities scheduled for the upcoming Federal Parliament elections and the frequent Al Shabaab attacks will likely hamper the impending polls if security is not tightened in the area.
