Severe Malaria Outbreak in Lower Shabelle region
Reports from Lower Shabelle region indicate that a number of people admitted to hospitals due to outbreak of diseases after the river flooded.
Many patients mostly children suffering from Malaria were hospitalized in Baladul-Amiin locality of Lower Shabelle region.
The chief of Baladul-Amiin Haji Ali Moalim Ahmed told Goobjoog FM that the number of the people suffering from Malaria in the area increases day after day with no proper health centres to treat the patients.
He stated that the patients go far away in the region to seek medical check-ups a move which is a bit difficult to most people especially the internally displaced persons in the area.
He called the federal government and humanitarian aid agencies to immediately respond to the malaria outbreak before it goes out of control.
