Severe water shortages in areas under Mahas threatens the lives of people

Severe water shortages in Mahas town and rural areas around it, is threatening the lives of many people mainly pastoralists.
Mahas district commissioner Muumin Mohamed Halene told Goobjoog FM that the situation in these areas is getting worse day after day due to acute water shortages adding that more people are in danger if immediate help is not delivered.
Halane underlined that the shortage of water in the district is caused by prolonged drought and the dry up of water sources, wells and dams forcing the pastoral communities to flee their homes in search of water.
He called the federal government of Somalia and international aid agencies to deliver immediate support to Guriel residents.
