Six new MPs elected in Garowe

GOOBJOOG NEWS/GAROWE: The electoral delegates in Garowe have on Wednesday elected six lawmakers including three female members to the House of the People of the Somali Federal Parliament.

HOP192, previously held by Saido Mohamed Hassan, was won today by Mohamed Farah Nuh who received 91 votes, defeating his rival, Mohamud Mohamed.

The second seat, HOP 94, formerly held by Ahmed Ismail Shabelle, was changed to a women’s seat, and was won by Sahra Abdillahi Egal with 87 votes defeating her rival, Fardowso Mohamed Aden.

HOP 121 was taken by Farhiya Yusuf Omar after she received a vote of confidence by 101 delegates. Her rival, Nimo Omar Abdi withdrew from the race.

The fourth seat, HOP 014, was won by Daud Abdikarin Sheikh Omar after he received 90 votes while Ahmed Hussein received 3 votes.

The fifth seat, HOP 075 was won by a show of hands by Abdiqani Mohamud Mohamed, after he defeated Ahmed Abdirahman Elmi, by receiving 98 votes.

The last and sixth seat, HOP 174 seat was won by Khadra Ahmed Mohamed by a show of hands. Her rival, Leyla Abdi Farah withdrew from the race, giving Khadra a chance to become MP.
