SNA Chief Brig.Gen Odowaa Rage Leads Mobilisation of Community Forces Against Al-Shabaab in Middle Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MIDDLE SHABELLE: Somali National Army chief Brigadier General Odowaa Yusuf Raage and the Chairman of the Military Court Lieutenant General Hassan Ali Nur Shute led a mobilisation of allied clan militia to wage the war against Al-Shabaab in the Middle Shabelle region.

The two military chiefs arrived in the Middle Shabelle region Saturday where they engaged clan elders and regional government officials to marshall support for a fresh battle against Al-Shabaab.

The Maawisley militia drawn from clans in the central regions have been fighting alongside the SNA and other security forces since mid-2022 to eliminate Al-Shabaab in the region.

The mobilisation follows an Al-shabaab insurgence in areas in the Middle Shabelle region in recent weeks.

On Friday, the SNA with the support of the Maawisley militias killed 20 Al-Shabaab militants in oos Hareeri area of the Middle Shabelle region.
