SNA forces begin rescue efforts for flood victims in Southwest state

GOOBJOOG NEWS | BAIDOA: The Somali National Army forces from the 60th Division has begun distributing humanitarian aid and rescuing victims of flooding in Baidoa, Southwest state.

The exercise was led by General Hassan Ishaq Omar who urged the residents in the affected areas to exercise caution amidst the ongoing heavy downpour.

The soldiers used their heavy military vehicles to evacuate displaced people to safer areas.

Meanwhile, Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) commissioner, Mohamud Moalim Abdulle on Tuesday issued an update on the status of flooding saying over 800,000 people have been affected by the floods which has caused at least 29 deaths.

He added that the rains have displaced more than 300,000 people across the country.
