SNA Forces Captures Two Al-Shabaab Suspects in Lower Shabelle Operation
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali National Army (SNA) commandos have detained two suspected Al-Shabaab members during a security sweep in the Towfiiq area of Tora-Toorow, Lower Shabelle.
The Danab special forces unit said the men were involved in extortion and threatening residents in nearby villages. One of the detainees, identified as Zakariye, is the son of senior al-Shabaab figure Moallim Abdirahman, who is currently being pursued by government forces, according to preliminary investigations.
Troops also seized a motorcycle the suspects allegedly used to move between locations, along with weapons and other materials believed to be linked to planned attacks on civilians.
The operation forms part of Somalia’s ongoing nationwide campaign to weaken al-Shabaab’s operational network and improve security for communities in liberated areas.
