SNA Forces Conduct Major Operations Against Al-Shabaab in Bokool Region

GOOBJOOG NEWS | HUDUR: The Somali National Army (SNA) has conducted operations against the Al-Shabaab militants in Bokool region, Southwest State where it says it plans a major offensive against the terrorist group.

According to military sources privy to the operations, the national army targeted Al-Shabaab strongholds in Wargolole, Hooyaley, and Abagbeday, areas located north of Hudur district.

The sources added that the army aims to secure Hudur district and strengthen overall security in the region ahead of intensified military efforts. 

On Tuesday, the Somali National Army said it had killed at least 40 militants in an operation with local forces in Hiraan region.

Defense ministry spokesman Abukar Mohamed said the national forces dealt a major blow to the militant group especially in Beera Yabaal, Addow Gurey, and other locations along the Shabelle River where the forces have been operating with the aim of liberating the nearby areas from the group’s control.
