SNA Forces Foils Attempted Attack by Al-Shbaab Militants in Lower Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS | LOWER SHABELLE: The Somali National forces Saturday foiled an attempted attack by Al-Shabaab militants in Lower Shabelle region.

The government forces detonated a land mine that had been laid by the militants on the road leading to a farm in Bulo-Mareer in the region.

“This landmine was intended to harm the farmers in Bula Mareer, but the plan and desire of the terrorists was destroyed by the heroes of the 26th Battalion, 6th Division, 60th Division in Bula Mareer, who removed the landmine successfully,” a statement issued by the forces command said.

The Commander of the 26th Division, 6th Battalion, 60th Division, Dhamme Farah Hirsi Abdulle, who also spoke to the media, praised the forces that carried out the operation, and indicated that they will redouble their efforts to fight Al-Shabaab fighters to liberate the country.

Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has declared that military operations against Al-Shabab fighters will continue until a conclusive victory is achieved and commended officers for their bravery in fighting the group and liberating several areas from Al-Shabab fighters.
