SNA Forces Kill 13 Al-Shabaab Fighters in Mudug Offensive

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army (SNA), backed by local allied forces, has pushed back Al-Shabaab fighters during an operation in central Somalia, military officials said.

The operation took place in Boorey, about 120 km from Bahdo town in the Mudug region, and forms part of a series of coordinated offensives targeting the group’s positions.

The military officials said at least 13 militants, including senior commanders, were killed during the fighting, while two others fled with serious injuries.

Security forces are continuing operations to secure the area and prevent the militants from regrouping.

The latest offensive comes as Somali forces, alongside local militias and international partners, intensify pressure on Al-Shabaab across central and southern regions in a bid to weaken the group’s operational capacity.
