GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: The Somali National Army, with the support of pro-government militias, made more territorial gains from Al-Shabaab in the ongoing offensive in Middle Shabelle region.

According to military officials, the army captured Bakajeh, Galef, Qordhere, and Jilibey villages, all in the Middle Shabelle region, as military operations against the terrorists continue unabated.

The latest gains came after the Somali military spokesman, Gen. Abdullahi Anod, said Tuesday that the army was in final preparations to launch an all-out offensive against the terrorist group in three regions in the southern part of the country.

Gen. Anod added that the terrorists had started to enlist civilians and forced teenagers and the elderly to join the group after they suffered staggering defeat in the hands of the army and local militia.

He, however, extended an olive branch to any defectors, saying those who will surrender to the army will be welcomed and rehabilitated.
