Several SNA Soldiers Dismissed Over Misconduct, Defence Ministry Says
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Ministry of Defence has said it had dismissed several soldiers from the Somali National Army following investigations into misconduct, including breaches of discipline and alleged criminal activity.
In a statement, the ministry said the action followed formal inquiries conducted in line with military law and regulations. The dismissed personnel were accused of offences ranging from abuse of authority to conduct deemed inconsistent with the army’s code of ethics.
The ministry said the measures underscored its commitment to accountability and maintaining discipline within the ranks.
“The Somali National Army is a national institution built on honour, discipline and service to the public,” the statement said, adding that behavior undermining public trust or the reputation of the armed forces would not be tolerated.
Defence officials said the dismissals form part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism, preventing abuse, and improving civilian protection as Somalia continues efforts to rebuild its security institutions.
The ministry and SNA command reiterated that any member found violating military law or national legislation would face appropriate legal action.
