Soldier hurls grenade at family house, kills mum, four siblings

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU:   A military man hurled a grenade at his family’s house Monday night killing five people among them his mother and siblings in Mogadishu.

Sources said the soldier from the Somali National Army arrived home drunk forcing his mother and relatives to confiscate the AK 47 riffle he had after they discovered he was drunk.

“He disappeared and later came back with a grenade which he hurled into the house,” an eye witness said. The grenade killed his mother and children at their home in Ali Kamin area in Warda Nabada district.

His brother and uncle were injured and so was he, sources added. The three have been admitted to the hospital.

Police have yet to issue a statement on the deadly incident.
