GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali Air Force, in partnership with the European Union Training Mission in Somalia (EUTM-S), has concluded a four-week computer seminar aimed at enhancing digital capabilities within the country’s armed forces.
The training, held at the International Campus in Mogadishu, focused on improving cyber awareness, digital communication, data processing, and collaboration tools among Somali Air Force personnel.
The program was delivered at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels to accommodate diverse skill sets.
The initiative is part of a broader push to modernize Somalia’s defense institutions and align them with global military standards in an increasingly technology-driven world.
“This program is not just about technology, it is about transformation,” said General Giuseppe Zizzari, EUTM-Somalia Multi-Force Commander, during the seminar’s closing ceremony. “Your commitment to learning reflects your dedication to a stronger, smarter Somali Armed Forces.”
Brigadier General Mohamed Goodax Barre, Secretary General of the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF), and Colonel Yusuf Eimoy Saqawe, Head of G3 of the Somali Air Force, also attended the event, underscoring the high-level support for digital transformation within the military.
EUTM-S instructors were praised for their professionalism and the quality of the training, which has now been recognized as a model for expansion across other branches of the Somali National Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and key support units such as the Training and Doctrine Command.
