Somali Ambassador to EAC Presents Credentials in DRC

GOOBJOOG NEWS | KINSHASA: The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Tanzania, DRC and the East African Community, Mr. Ilyas Ali Hassan, has presented a copy of his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ms. Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner.
During the meeting in Kinshasa, Ambassador Ilyas and Minister Kayikwamba discussed ways to strengthen the brotherly relations and cooperation between Somalia and the DRC. Their talks focused on promoting peace in the region, expanding trade opportunities, easing travel between the two countries, and addressing the release of Somali nationals currently held in Congolese prisons.
Ambassador Ilyas expressed his gratitude to the government and people of the DRC for their warm welcome to the Somali community living in the country, as well as the hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their official visit.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing investment and trade ties and agreed to work together on facilitating visa and residency procedures for Somali citizens in the DRC.
