Somali Army Chief, SSC-Khaatumo Leader Pledge Closer Security Cooperation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s army chief and the leader of the SSC-Khaatumo administration held high-level talks in Mogadishu on Monday, signaling a step toward tighter coordination between federal forces and regional authorities amid rising security challenges.
Major General Odawaa Yusuf Raage met with SSC-Khaatumo President Abdulqadir Ahmed Aw-Ali to discuss deepening military cooperation and sharing intelligence to safeguard national unity and territorial integrity.
The two sides stressed the need for a unified approach to security, with Aw-Ali reaffirming his administration’s readiness to work hand-in-hand with the Somali National Army to maintain peace in contested areas under SSC-Khaatumo’s jurisdiction.
“Strengthening collaboration with federal forces is vital not just for regional stability, but for Somalia’s collective future,” Aw-Ali said.
General Odawaa echoed the sentiment, saying the army remained open to robust partnerships with regional entities committed to Somalia’s stability and development. He emphasized the value of mutual trust in navigating complex national threats.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to sustained dialogue and joint operations, as Somalia continues to navigate a fragile security landscape.
