GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali National Army (SNA) Ground Forces Commander Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar on Thursday hailed government troops in El-Dheer, saying their victory over militant fighters showed the army’s determination to secure the country.

During his visit to the recently liberated district in central Galgaduud region, Omar praised the soldiers’ courage and sacrifice, urging them to remain steadfast as operations continue against al Shabaab insurgents, known locally as Khawaarij.

“You have proven that Somalia’s stability rests on the bravery of its forces,” he told the troops, according to officials.

The commander said the military campaign, which includes operations in Ruun-Nirgood and other regions, would persist until extremist threats were eliminated.

His message came as the government showcased its broader achievements at the “Dan-Qaran Government’s Performance Exhibition (2022–2025),” where security gains have been presented as a central pillar of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s agenda.
