Somali Army Confirms Death of Senior Al-Shabaab Commander

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army (SNA) has confirmed the death of Abaas Mohamed Hool, a senior Al-Shabaab commander accused of masterminding deadly attacks across Mogadishu and the Shabelle regions.

According to security officials, Hool died from injuries sustained during an earlier targeted military operation carried out by Somali forces. Officials said his condition deteriorated due to complications from the wounds and illness.

A veteran militant, Hool joined the militant group in 2007 and rose through the ranks to become one of its most notorious operatives.

He was implicated in numerous attacks targeting civilians and public institutions in the capital and surrounding regions, according to Somali intelligence sources.

The Somali National Army has vowed to intensify operations against Al-Shabaab and reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the group’s presence across the country.

The group has faced mounting pressure in recent months amid coordinated military campaigns.
