MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army has graduated its first group of Commando Officer Cadets in Baledogle, a move military leaders say will sharpen the country’s fight against insurgents.

The ceremony at the Hassan Tuure Training School was presided over by army chief General Odowaa Yusuf Rageh, who watched cadets demonstrate advanced field manoeuvres.

General Odowaa said the programme would strengthen command structures and improve coordination between officers, non-commissioned officers and regular soldiers.

He described the training as a milestone in professionalising the Somali National Army.
