Somali Army Intercept Vehicle Carrying Arms for Al-Shabaab in Hiiraan Region

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army (SNA) forces backed by local forces have intercepted a vehicle ferrying supplies suspected to have been intended for the Al-Shabaab terrorist group at Baar-Dheere area, Hiiraan region.

During the operation, the forces seized a Suzuki vehicle and 13 AK-47 rifles on the outskirts of Baar-Dheere.

According to SNA’s 5th Battalion of the 27th Division commander Colonel Mahmoud Hassan Ibrahim, the operation was based on intelligence sources that indicated that the vehicle was transporting weapon supplies for the militant group.

Colonel Ibrahim commended the troops for their swift and decisive action adding that the government forces in Hiiraan remain vigilant and prepared to counter enemy threats.

He further states that the forces will continue intensifying operations against Al-Shabaab in the regions to ensure security and stability is fully restored and citizens enjoy peace.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the SNA and local forces to disrupt Al-Shabaab’s activities and ensure peace in the Hiiraan region.
