Somali Army Operation in Gedo Kills Five Militants

GOOBJOOG NEWS | GEDO: The Somali National Army (SNA) has killed five militants and dismantled their bases during a security operation in the Ceel-Cilaan area of Gedo region, a move expected to ease pressure on civilians and improve local security.

Military officials said the operation, carried out about 30 km east of Bardheere district, targeted armed fighters who had repeatedly attacked and intimidated residents in the area.

The army said the destruction of militant hideouts used to plan and launch attacks would disrupt further violence and allow communities to resume normal activities after weeks of insecurity.

The SNA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilians and pursuing armed groups threatening peace and stability, urging residents to continue cooperating with security forces to help sustain recent gains.
