Somali Army Land Forces Commander Holds Security Talks in Dhusamareb
GOOBJOOG NEWS | DHUSAMAREB: Somali National Army’s Land Forces commander Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar is in Dhusamareb for talks with military officers on security operations and the army’s activities in Galmudug.
Gen. Omar and a delegation of senior officers were received at Ugaas Nur Airport by the commander of the army’s 21st Division, Colonel Mohamed Abdi Dahir, also known as Dhagawayne, alongside other military officials.
During the visit, the Land Forces commander held separate meetings with officers stationed in the regional capital to review the condition of troops, ongoing security operations and military activities in parts of Galmudug.
Discussions also covered coordination between different army units, command responsibilities and ways to strengthen cooperation among officers leading military formations in the region.
The visit comes as Somali forces continue efforts to improve security in Galmudug and conduct operations against Al-Shabaab, which remains active in parts of central Somalia.
The army said the visit forms part of a wider programme of inspections and consultations by senior commanders aimed at assessing troop readiness, reviewing military operations and strengthening leadership within the national army.
