Somali Army, Locals Fighters Thwart Al-Shabaab Attack in Galguduud

GOOBJOOG NEWS | EL-DHEER: The Somali National Army (SNA), with the support of local residents, successfully repelled an Al-Shabaab assault on El-Dheer, inflicting a decisive defeat on the militants.
Defense Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, confirmed the victory, stating that the terrorists suffered heavy casualties after launching a failed attempt to capture the town.
According to reports, Al-Shabaab fighters mounted a coordinated attack but were swiftly overpowered by the joint response of Somali troops and armed locals. The militants were forced to retreat in disarray, leaving behind the bodies of their fighters.
Minister Fiqi commended the courage of the “heroes of the Somali National Army and the people of El-Dheer,” emphasizing their unity and resilience in safeguarding the community. He further reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency by providing timely updates on the security situation.
The triumph in El-Dheer marks another milestone in the government-led offensive to liberate territories across Galguduud.
