Somali Army Pushes Al-Shabaab from Key Areas in Lower Shabelle Offensive

GOOBJOOG NEWS | AWDHEEGLE: The Somali National Army (SNA) has recaptured several areas from Al-Shabaab fighters in the Awdheegle district of the Lower Shabelle region.

Militaruy officials said the latest advance, part of the ongoing “Operation Silent Storm,” targeted militant hideouts in Tawakal village and surrounding areas, where troops destroyed tunnels and shelters used by the group.

The officials added that the operation is part of the third phase of a broader campaign aimed at dismantling Al-Shabaab’s remaining strongholds and securing newly liberated territories.

The Somali government says its intensified offensives are designed to deny the militants safe havens and strengthen state authority across southern Somalia.
