GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali government forces repelled an attack by Al-Shabaab fighters in the Jabad Godane area of the Middle Shabelle region, the military said on Sunday.

The Somali National Army said its troops had taken control of the area following clashes that left the militants with unspecified losses. It did not provide casualty figures, and there was no immediate comment from Al-Shabaab.

The army said security forces were continuing a large-scale operation to clear remaining fighters from nearby areas and prevent the group from regrouping.

Somalia has stepped up military operations against Al-Shabaab in recent months as part of a broader campaign aimed at restoring security and protecting civilians, particularly in central regions where the group has maintained a presence.
