Somali Army Steps Up Security Operations in Jowhar

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army (SNA) has intensified security operations in Jowhar, conducting coordinated searches and patrols aimed at preventing militant activity and reinforcing stability in the Middle Shabelle region.

Troops from the 18th Brigade of the elite Gorgor commandos, led by Colonel Aden Mohamed Farah, carried out the operations across key parts of the town, targeting areas considered vulnerable to security threats.

Soldiers searched neighbourhoods, public spaces and main access routes into and out of Jowhar, in a bid to disrupt potential militant movements and strengthen the security presence.

Military officials urged residents to cooperate with security forces, stressing that public support remains crucial in maintaining peace and preventing attacks.

The officials said further operations are planned as part of broader efforts to sustain stability and counter threats from Al-Shabaab militants, who remain active in parts of central and southern Somalia.

The operations come as Somalia continues to intensify security campaigns to secure urban centres and key transport corridors while advancing efforts to weaken insurgent networks.
