Somali, AU Forces Clear Explosives in Awdheegle amid Push to Secure Lower Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS | AWDHEEGLE: Somali National Army (SNA) troops, working alongside the African Union Support Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), have begun clearing landmines and improvised explosive devices planted by Al-Shabaab militants in Awdheegle, a key town in the Lower Shabelle region.
Military officials said the explosives had been hidden along roads and near residential areas, endangering civilians and disrupting movement in and around the town.
The clearance operation is part of ongoing efforts to restore stability and ensure safe passage for residents returning to their homes, the officials added.
SNA and AUSSOM forces are also conducting joint patrols to eliminate remaining militant threats and secure newly recovered areas in southern Somalia.
