Turkey Hosts Somali Auditors in Bid to Strengthen Financial Oversight
GOOBJOOG NEWS | ANKARA: Federal government of Somalia auditors have begun a week-long capacity-building programme in Turkey aimed at strengthening public financial oversight and improving the protection of state resources.
The programme, hosted by the Turkish Court of Accounts, brings together auditors from Somalia’s Office of the Auditor General as part of a bilateral cooperation initiative focused on improving audit quality, investigative skills and institutional effectiveness.
Officials from both sides said the training would enhance Somalia’s ability to scrutinise public spending, reinforce accountability, and support broader governance and reform efforts as the country works to rebuild state institutions.
Deputy Auditor General Abdijamaal Ismail Mohamed said the programme would directly improve audit investigations and help safeguard public funds, describing it as a practical step toward stronger financial controls and transparency.
The initiative reflects deepening cooperation between Somalia and Turkey, with authorities noting that experience-sharing between supreme audit institutions plays a critical role in strengthening public trust and the effective management of national resources.
