GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Somali Civil Aviation Authority has banned the use of drones within a radius of 5 nautical miles within the Aden Abdulle Airport in Mogadishu.
The Authority said on Sunday that all persons will henceforth not not be allowed to operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within a radius of 9.3 kilometres from the airport.
It noted that only operators granted permission by the Authority can operate the drones within the indicated area.
The ban comes amid reports that the militant group Al-Shabaab has in recent times attempted to deploy drones in its operations.
