Somali Aviation Authority Issues Warning Over Disruption of Flight Routes
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has issued a warning against disruption of flight routes “over specific areas in the northern regions, deemed a violation of domestic and international aviation regulations.”
In a statement issued Monday, SCAA expresses concern that the disruptions “were initiated by the administration of the northwest regions, potentially motivated by “external influences and self-serving interests.”
It added that the Somali government has consistently issued warnings and notifications to uphold flight safety, urging cooperation from the regional administration, warnings which have reportedly been disregarded.
“The Somali government remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its airspace,” stated the SCAA in a press release.
It added, “We have proactively issued warnings and notifications to all relevant parties, including the international community. Unfortunately, the regional administration has not responded as expected.”
Due to the persistent disruptions and the failure to address them, the SCAA emphasized that tougher measures may be necessary to protect Somali Civil Aviation.
The agency underscored the gravity of the situation and reiterated its determination to take decisive action to safeguard the integrity of Somali airspace.
